What Does CBD stand for?
CBD or Cannabidiol is the decarboxylated form of the raw phytocannabinoid: CBDa. The “a” in this case stands for acid. Some would call CBD or cannabidiol the activated form, though there has been some recent research that has shown that CBDa has activity against the spike protein in Sars-CoV-2 or COVID-19, among many other activities, so this term is clearly inaccurate.
There are many other related cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, the most famous among these is THC or tetrahydrocannabinol. Lately there has been growing interest in other hemp derived cannabinoids including CBG and CBN. Research is finding uses for these as well and they are being combined with CBD to produce an entourage effect along with the terpenes found in the hemp flowers.
There is no definitive evidence, but, CBGa, like CBDa is the raw form of the cannabinoid and seems to have a similar binding effect on the spike protein of Sars-CoV-2, while CBN or cannabinol is being used (without definitive evidence) as a sleep aid.
What is CBD?
CBD or cannabidiol is a naturally occurring molecule in cannabis that’s classified as a phytocannabinoid and was discovered in 1940 by Roger Adams. CBD is just one of 113 known cannabinoids found in the plant and is known to have systemic effects in humans and other animals including cats and dogs.
What is hemp flower?
Hemp flower is the dried, cured, and trimmed flowering tips of cannabis sativa plants that contain less than 0.3%THC. It is the most concentrated part of the hemp plant containing the most oil (cannabinoids and terpenes) up to 15-25%. This is the most natural form of CBD and other cannabinoids as it is straight from the plant without adulteration. It can be smoked, vaped, made into a tea or extracted. If you choose to inhale the vapors of the flower once heated or burned you will find the relaxation and relief almost immediately.
Is Hemp Flower Legal in the US?
Since the 2014 Farm Bill passed, hemp flower has been legal across the US. Furthermore, the 2018 Farm Bill made commercial cultivation, harvesting, drying, curing, processing, extracting, and shipping legal to every state. This liberation of hemp has lead to an increased popularity of hemp flower since it is the most potent form of CBD and other cannabinoids, and there has been something of a backlash by state police departments because it is difficult to distinguish from marijuana (in fact you need a chemical test). Instead of making the effort to purchase these tests, they have opted to push to make hemp flower illegal in some states. In rare cases this has succeeded and hemp flower has been banned in public. The laws are changing regularly and it’s difficult to keep up with. We have put together a blog that links to state specific laws so that you can learn about your state specific laws.

How to use hemp flower?
Hemp flower can be smoked, vaporized, or made into a tea. People also have used it in baking and it’s possible to extract the oils in an MCT or olive oil or even ethanol.
Most folks will smoke hemp flower, either in pipe or ground up and rolled in paper, it’s certainly the easiest and cheapest method of taking in the active compounds.
We prefer vaporizing the hemp buds using a vaporizing device, that way all you get is the oils and much less carbon and partially combusted materials.
Making a tea is another way to get the goodness directly from the hemp buds. You can combine it with another of your favorite teas, make it straight up, or put it in the grinder with your coffee! Using any of these beverage options you will enjoy the benefits of the raw form of the cannabinoids because they will not get hot enough to convert from their acidic forms. So if you're looking for the CBDa or CBGa forms of the cannabinoids, drink up!

Never. Nada. Zilch. CBD will not get you high no matter how much you take. So why does CBD make me feel high? Your body may experience a profound sense of relief that it may not have felt in years or even decades. This is a big change, and can feel like a “high,” but make no mistake, this is not the same stoney, can’t-whip-your-brain-into-action-staring-at-the-daisies experience associated with THC. It’s a body buzz only. Your mind will more than likely be clear and relaxed and if there’s a task to get done, you can still focus, and get to it.
Does CBD show up on a drug test?
Unfortunately we have had customers test positive on a 10-panel drug screening test. This is not always the case though, and it’s hard to know if our products were the only ones being taken. Drug screening tests vary widely on their sensitivity and specificity for THC, so don’t count on them to confuse CBD for THC, but some do give false positives. While a false positive drug screen test due to CBD is not the norm, we cannot guarantee that you will pass, so if you’re in doubt and passing the screening test is critical for you, please consider other natural options for finding relief. On the other hand, CBD causing a false positive is a known phenomenon and that alone may be enough to sway the test giver into running another drug screen to rule out CBD causing a false positive if you present them with this case. Full disclosure to the test administrator of all substances being consumed, prior to testing, is the first step to having a “screening” test not end up an “unemployment” test.
